The total volume of the publications contains about 2 200 pages of research texts. The first volume of the series presents in a dictionary systematization the music-stage work of composers and librettists (Bulgarian and foreign) whose works have been realized on the Bulgarian stage. The second volume is devoted to the centres of Bulgarian musical theatre culture in which state theatre institutions, private troupes or experimental formations with a relatively longer stage life were founded and continue their creative activity today. The third volume brings to the fore for the first time the creative figures of 1,371 stagers - conductors, directors, choreographers, stage designers, chorus masters - with registration of their premiere performances within the period under review and summarizing authors' judgments of their contributions to our national musical scene. The final volume, Volume Four, is the first attempt at a survey study over a 120-year period of nearly 14,000 retrieved reviews, reviews, and critical materials in the specialized and periodical press in Bulgaria and of archival materials on opera, ballet, operetta, and musical theater. The volume is realized by Gea Libris Publishing House with the financial support of the National Culture Fund under the Ministry of Culture and the 13 Centuries Bulgaria Fund.
